Quiet Streets

Kingston’s Quiet Streets started in the spring of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic revealed a need for the city to accommodate active living and physical distancing.

A quiet street is a corridor that prioritizes non-motorized road users through the systematic placement of traffic barriers designed to reduce and slow down traffic. By redirecting traffic away from these routes, quiet streets increase engagement in active transportation while enabling access to key destinations.

KCAT designed and implemented quiet streets on select residential streets. Please click here for our final report.
